::. CV of Dr. Pacini Matteo



He was born in Pisa on January, the 24th, 1975. He graduated at the Medical School of the University of Pisa, Italy, in 1999, and went on to specialize in Psychiatry, taking his second degree in 2003, discussing a thesis on “Methadonic maintenance: response predictive factors”. Since 1998 he is involved in treatment and research programs on drug addiction, especially focusing on heroin and cocaine dependence and on psychiatric double diagnosis, as a member of the Pisa-Sia (Study and Intervention on Addiction) Group, directed by Prof. Maremmani, at the University of Pisa. At the University of Pisa in 2004-2005 he received a grant for the study of opioid drugs in patients with double diagnosis. He won two awards for his research on QT lengthening in heroin addicts treated with methadon (first author, IVth National Conference on Methadon and other substitutive therapies, Pietrasanta, 2001) and on 8 year follow-up of heroin addicts with double diagnosis in treatment with methadone (co-author, Sopsi award 2002). He is member of the Italian Society of Addiction Medicine (SITD-ItSAM), and one of the founders of the Behavioral Science Institute De Lisio, in Pisa. Since 2003 he cooperates, as a consultant, with the Clinical Medicine Department of the University “La Sapienza” in Rome, Policlinico Umberto I (Prof. Mauro Ceccanti), for the diagnosis and treatment of alcohol abusers with psychiatric double diagnosis.
