Franco Frare graduated at the Medical School of the University of Pisa. Italy in 1994 and went on to specialize in Psychiatry, taking his second degree in 1999, and the PhD in clinic psychopharmacology in 2005. He works at the adult mental health unit of Pistoia, Italy since 2001 as co-responsible of the district outpatient services. He took post-graduate courses on psychopharmacology of mood disorders and anxiety disorders at the University of Siena, Italy, in 2000-2002. He cooperates with the research and teaching programs of the Institute of Behavioural Science “Gianfranco De Lisio” since its foundation. He teaches psychopathology and clinical psychiatry at the School of Psychiatry organized by the Institute of Behavioral Science De Lisio. He cooperates at the international research program on mood disorders at the South California University of San Diego, developing research projects on different aspects of bipolar disorder and of anxiety disorders, in particular panic disorder/agoraphobia, social phobia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and on body dysmorphic disorder. He published about 50 national and international scientific papers on clinical psychopharmacology, psychiatric clinic, psychopathology and biological psychiatry. He is also author of various chapters of books on mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and on body dysmorphic disorder.
